Dedicated development teams that own the outcome
Six squads, each built around one kind of work. Pick the team, meet the people, and they join your codebase and your standups within days, with one UK company accountable for the work.

Dedicated team, team extension or project?
Backendz does all three. This is how they differ.
| Dedicated team | Team extension | Fixed-scope project | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Who manages the work | A Backendz lead, accountable to you | You do | Backendz, against a fixed scope |
| What you are buying | An outcome owned over time | Engineering capacity | A defined deliverable |
| When scope changes | The backlog changes; the team stays | You re-plan with the same people | A change request |
| Best for | Products and platforms that keep evolving | Teams that need specific skills fast | Work with a clear, stable scope |
From first call to first sprint
Your team in place within days. Working software at the end of the first sprint.
- Scope callThirty minutes on what you are building, what is in place and what the team needs to own.
- Line-upWe propose the roles and the people, with their experience, and you meet them before anything is signed.
- OnboardingAccess, environments and the first tickets agreed. The team joins your tools and your standups within days.
- First sprintWorking software at the end of it, reviewed with you. The team grows or shrinks with the work from there.
How we vet engineers
Four stages, before anyone joins your work. You meet the people we propose before anything is signed.
- Portfolio & experience reviewRelevant projects, technical depth and hands-on experience are reviewed first.
- Technical assessmentA practical task tests code quality, problem-solving and the stack the project uses.
- Quality & team reviewSenior engineers review the work for implementation quality, communication and collaboration.
- Final approvalConfirmed against the project's requirements and Backendz's quality standards before joining a team.
Engage the way the work needs
- Dedicated teamA full squad owns an outcome: a product, a platform or a programme of work, with a lead who answers for delivery.
- Team extensionEngineers join the team you already have, in your codebase, your tools and your standups.
- Full-time or part-timeEach person is assigned for the hours the work needs, not a fixed block.
- A sprint or the long termStart with one sprint to prove the fit, then keep the team for as long as the roadmap runs.
Questions we are asked
What is a dedicated development team?
A squad of engineers assigned to your work, and only your work, for as long as you need them. They own an outcome, such as a product or platform, rather than billing for tickets.
How is a dedicated team different from staff augmentation?
Staff augmentation adds individual engineers to a team you manage. A dedicated team comes with its own lead and owns delivery. Backendz does both: see the hire-developers pages for individual engineers.
How quickly can a team start?
Within days of agreeing the line-up. You meet the engineers first, and the first sprint ends with working software.
How are the engineers vetted?
In four stages: a portfolio and experience review, a practical technical assessment in the project's stack, a quality and team review by senior engineers, and final approval against the project's requirements.
Where are the engineers based?
Backendz is a UK company based in London. The delivery team includes engineers in the UK and South Asia, managed under one UK company and one contract under English law.
Who owns the work?
You do. The code and intellectual property are transferred to you under the contract, with no licence fees.
Still running on workarounds?
Book a 30-minute call with an engineer. Tell us what's breaking and we'll tell you what we would build, how long it would take and what it would cost, before you commit to anything.
