What does Backendz do?

Backendz is a custom software development and AI engineering company. We build bespoke business applications, artificial intelligence systems, integrations and data platforms, and we support them in production after launch.

How much does bespoke software development cost?

Most focused operational systems fall between £15,000 and £50,000. Larger multi-module platforms with integrations start around £50,000. A two-week discovery sprint, which produces a costed build plan, is a fixed fee in the low thousands. We publish this because vague pricing wastes everybody's time.

How long does it take?

A focused system typically takes six to twelve weeks from kick-off to production. Larger platforms run three to six months. We deliver in stages so working software is in your hands well before final delivery.

Who owns the code and the intellectual property?

You do. Source code, data and intellectual property transfer to you, and this is stated in the contract from the outset.

Do you build AI agents, or is it a wrapper?

We build agent and multi-agent systems with tool use, defined human approval checkpoints and full audit logging, designed so that an incorrect action is detected and recoverable rather than silent. Most of our AI work is integration with existing ERP, CRM and document systems, not replacement.

Are you a UK company?

Backendz is UK-registered and contracts under English law. Our engineering team is based in Pakistan, which is how we deliver enterprise-standard work at a competitive rate. We state this openly because it is relevant to procurement.

Can you take over software built by someone else?

Yes. We carry out code audits and architecture reviews before agreeing to inherit a system, so that both sides understand its condition before any commitment is made.

The project

A textile manufacturer ran quality checks, machine logs and shift handovers across nine production lines on paper forms.

We built an offline-first mobile app for the factory floor. Every check is captured on a phone or tablet, saved on the device, and synced when a connection comes back. Paper forms on the lines were replaced entirely within four months.

The challenge

The factory floor has no reliable signal. Paper forms were the only thing that always worked, but they were filled in late, hard to read and typed up by hand at the end of the shift.

Managers found out about quality problems hours after they happened, and any app had to work with no connection at all, or operators would go straight back to paper.

The solution

We built the app offline-first: every form, check and photo writes to the device first and reconciles with the server when it reconnects, so the floor never waits on the network.

Operators get the right checklist for their line and shift, with photos and machine readings attached. Supervisors see results as soon as devices sync, and sensor data from machines can be pulled into the same record.
